User Research Summary
Our goal for our class project was to create a mobile app to help people decide what/where to eat. We completed interviews as well as a survey and affinity mapped the responses to better understand users.
User Research Pain Points
The majority of users experience time issues.
Another issue identified with users is their indecisiveness when it comes to deciding what / where to eat.
Persona
We created a user persona based on the research findings to better understand the needs and motivations of users.
Journey Map
To visually represent the website's user flow. We developed the user journey map.
Empathy Map
Via affinity mapping the findings of the interviews. We came to the conclusion that we should create a mobile app to help people in avoiding indecision and optimizing their time.

Then, to guide our app design concept, we built a user flow.

After that, we prototyped it and put the interactive screen to the usability test of the application.
Usability Study
We affinity mapped the test data to discover what users were confused about.
Findings
These were the main findings uncovered by the usability study.
People are Confused by the “Next Round” and “Next Fight”
People are confused by the words “ Fight” and “Fighters”
People aren't sure how to use the app to save time effectively.
People don’t like to create an account.
People don't see a shareable link when they wish to share the result.
Mockups
The usability studies provided us with a few practical insights. One of these was the addition of a guest login option, allowing anyone to use the app.
"Next Round," "Next Fight," "Saved Fights," and "Saved Fighters" are all confused in the early design, but following the usability study, I modified "Next Round" to "Retry," "Next Fight" to "New Fight," and "Saved Fighters" to "Saved Foods." This provides users with clear instructions on how to use the application.
Final Visual Designs
We continued to iterate until we came at our final designs.
Not all feedback needs solution
Lists based on location → went back to core problem statement to save time & end indecision
First thought to solve the problem is not the only way to solve it.
First idea = very different from final prototype
Create a stronger gamification possibly allowing users to “fight” with their friends
Incorporate a map system to suggest food options in your area
App integration with recipe & fitness apps to expand cooking options
App integration with popular social media apps for consumer marketing and guerilla advertising
